Most questions are answered below. If yours is not, write to support.kunin@gmail.com.
Questions that apply everywhere come first; then what is particular to each version:
- All versions — speed, accuracy, what leaves your device, purchases
- Mac — pasting, the hotkey, restoring a purchase, meetings
- iPhone and iPad — the keyboard, the orange dot, restoring a purchase
- Windows — the hotkey, the licence, meetings
All versions
- Transcription is slow, or stops after a few words.
- That is usually the backend rather than the app. On-device transcription depends on your device and on the model size; a cloud backend depends on your connection and on that provider being up. Switching backends in Settings ▸ Speech is the quickest way to find out which.
- It keeps misspelling names and jargon.
- Add them to the custom dictionary in Settings. Entries are applied after transcription, so they fix the words the model reliably gets wrong without retraining anything.
- Does my voice leave my device?
- Only if you choose a cloud backend. With on-device transcription selected, nothing is uploaded — no account, no network. The privacy policy sets out exactly what each option sends, version by version.
- Does one purchase cover every platform?
- No. The Mac app and the iPhone and iPad app are separate App Store purchases, and neither accepts licence keys. Windows has its own licence, which is not on sale yet.
Mac
- Nothing is pasted when I stop speaking.
- JustTalk types into the app in front by simulating a paste, and macOS only allows that once you grant Accessibility. Open System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Accessibility and switch JustTalk on. If it is already on after an update, switch it off and on again — macOS ties the permission to the exact build.
- The hotkey does nothing in one particular app.
- Some apps take the key first, and secure input fields — password boxes, some terminals — block synthetic typing entirely by design. Try the same hotkey in TextEdit to tell the two apart.
- I paid, but the app still says the trial expired.
- Open JustTalk Pro in Settings and choose Restore. That asks the App Store again, which fixes the case where the app could not see the receipt. Purchases follow your Apple Account, so make sure you are signed in with the one you bought it on.
- Meeting capture records me but not the other side.
- Capturing the other half of a call needs permission to record system audio, which macOS asks for the first time you start a meeting. If you dismissed that prompt, grant it in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security.
iPhone and iPad
- The JustTalk keyboard cannot dictate.
- Add it in Settings ▸ General ▸ Keyboard ▸ Keyboards ▸ Add New Keyboard, then tap JustTalk and switch on Allow Full Access. iOS does not let a keyboard use the microphone, so the JustTalk app records for it — and without Full Access the keyboard cannot reach the app.
- The orange dot stays on while I am not speaking.
- While a dictation session is running, the JustTalk app holds the microphone so the keyboard can start dictating instantly, and iOS shows the orange indicator for the whole session. It is telling the truth. End the session in the JustTalk app and it goes out — and a session you forget closes itself.
- I paid, but the app still says the trial expired.
- Open JustTalk Pro in the app’s settings and choose Restore. That asks the App Store again. Purchases follow your Apple Account, so the same one on your iPhone and your iPad unlocks both.
- Is there meeting capture?
- Not on iPhone and iPad — it is a Mac and Windows feature. Recordings you already have can be transcribed through the share sheet.
Windows
- The hotkey does nothing in one particular window.
- Windows does not let an app running without administrator rights type into one that runs with them. If the window you are dictating into was started "as administrator", JustTalk cannot reach it; the same hotkey in Notepad tells the two cases apart.
- How do I unlock the Windows version?
- A Windows licence is not on sale yet. Until it is, the app runs its seven-day trial and then the free version with a daily limit. App Store purchases for Mac, iPhone or iPad do not carry over to Windows.
- Meeting capture records me but not the other side.
- Capturing the other half of a call needs the system audio of this PC. Check that the call is playing through the default output device, and that the microphone settings under Privacy & security allow JustTalk.
Reporting a problem
Include the app version — it is in the About screen — along with your device and its macOS, Windows or iOS version, which backend you were using and what you expected to happen. A sentence of the text that came out wrong helps more than a description of it.
