Privacy Policy
Last updated 31 August 2026. Applies to the VideoSqueezer iOS app and this website.
VideoSqueezer collects nothing. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising, no tracking and no account. The app makes no network request of its own — the only server it ever talks to is Apple's App Store, and only when you buy or restore the full version. No video is ever uploaded. Every frame is read, encoded and written on your own device.
What stays on your device
Everything. Specifically:
- The videos you import and the compressed results
- Your conversion history, and the lifetime total of space freed
- Your settings — quality preset, destination, crop shape, audio choice, how long originals are kept
- Originals held back after a conversion, until the retention period you chose runs out
- A cached picture of your library from the last scan, so reopening the list is instant
None of it is uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes all of it, including any originals still being held for you — so put those back first if you want them.
Your photo library
The app asks for photo-library access for two reasons: to find videos worth compressing, and to write results back. The scan happens entirely on the device — nothing about what is in your library is sent anywhere, and nothing is changed by scanning. With full access, the app can read an original in place and, if you ask it to, remove it after a successful conversion; iOS asks you to confirm, and the original goes to Recently Deleted, where it stays for 30 days and only you can restore it. With limited access, the app sees only the videos you pick, copies them on import, and cannot remove the originals at all. You can change or revoke access at any time in Settings, and the app keeps working with less.
The optional app lock uses Face ID through iOS. The app is told only whether the check passed. It never sees your face data, which never leaves the Secure Enclave on your device.
Purchases
The full version is bought through Apple, which handles the transaction entirely. We never see your payment details, your Apple Account or your name. The app asks Apple what you own and stores the answer on the device, so what you bought keeps working offline.
The purchase is Family Shareable. If someone in your family group shares it with you, Apple tells the app that you are entitled to it — and nothing about who that person is.
Children
VideoSqueezer is a utility rather than an app made for children, and it collects no personal information from anyone, of any age. There is no chat, no user-generated content that is shared anywhere, no social feature, no web browser and no advertising.
Required-reason APIs
Apple requires apps to declare certain APIs and why they are used. VideoSqueezer declares three: UserDefaults under reason CA92.1, storing your own settings on your own device; File timestamp under C617.1, to tell whether a video has changed since it was scanned; and Disk space under E174.1, to refuse a job that would not fit. The declaration ships in the app as PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy, and its collected-data list is empty.

Changes
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that reduced your privacy would come with a new version of the app, and would be described in that version's release notes.
